Sipadan & Indonesia - Borneo Diving Holiday

The Triangle Between Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines is one of the most biodiverse marine habitats in the world. Strong ocean currents, deep-sea trenches, and seamounts, combined with active volcanic islands have created a complex oceanographic environment that is a paradise for divers. The beauty of this region lies in its diversity.

Scuba Junkie offers you the chance to combine two of these amazing countries into one diving holiday with Scuba Junkie Sipadan and Scuba Junkie Sangalaki.

Why visit sipadan National Park?

The majority of visitors come to see the world-famous Sipadan Island, which is home to thousands of turtles, schooling sharks, swirling barracuda, and jaw-dropping coral walls that drop more than 600m / 2,000ft straight down to the seafloor. Sipadan is frequently voted the world's top dive destination, but the diving doesn't end there. The Sipadan Barrier Reef is the largest in Southeast Asia and has the highest marine biodiversity in the world.

why visit sangalaki marine park?

Manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, and even whale sharks can be spotted on a regular basis! The dive sites and marine life vary by island, and we recommend that every visitor dive at least the main four islands - Derawan, Sangalaki, Kakaban, and Maratua - to fully appreciate what this area has to offer, from manta rays to flamboyant cuttlefish, pygmy seahorses to whale sharks and turtles to schooling barracuda, sharks, turtles and so much more! This area caters to all levels of divers and snorkelers! Not only that, but on Kakaban Island, we have one of the only stingless jellyfish lakes in the world - we can take you there on your surface interval!

To get to SJ Sipadan you'll travel to Semporna, located in Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo, which has links to both major international and national transport hubs. The closest airport to Semporna is Tawau airport (TWU) about a 1.5hrs drive away, and you can fly here from Kota Kinabalu (BKI) or Kuala Lumpur (KUL). There are also links overland if you're already in Sabah from Kota Kinabalu or Sandakan. Check out the full options here.

There are two key methods of travel between our resorts on Mabul in Malaysia, and Derawan in Indonesia. The first is via the ferry terminal in Tawau heading towards Tarakan, and the second is via flights heading towards the nearest airport in Berau (Kalimarau airport)
