Low’s Peak, the awe-inspiring summit of Mount Kinabalu (4095m asl) is accessible via a minimum 2D1N package with an overnight stay on the mountain. No prior climbing experience is necessary but a reasonable level of physical fitness will definitely help you reach the summit in time for sunrise! Mount Kinabalu is approximately a two hour drive from Kota Kinabalu and it is easy to combine with a few days diving out of Kota Kinabalu and a visit to Kinabalu Park before your climb.

The East Coast of Sabah is the place to go for wildlife and offers visitors an array of options to choose from, highlights include the chance to see orang-utans, proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, Bornean sunbears and more! We recommend allowing 3D2N to explore both Sepilok and the Kinabatangan river but if you only have one or two days to spare then there are options for this also. Sepilok is approximately 5-6 hours by bus or a short 40min flight from Kota Kinabalu, it is also halfway between Scuba Junkie Kota Kinabalu and Scuba Junkie Sipadan so a perfect stopover if you plan to visit both locations for diving!

Also on Sabah’s East Coast is Danum Valley, a 130 million-year old rainforest with over 300 different species of birds, 124 species of mammals and seven species of primates! Join your guide for walks along the beautiful jungle trails and return to your accommodation of choice for the night, either the 5* luxury Borneo Rainforest Lodge or the more simple Danum Valley Field Centre. If starting from Kota Kinabalu, Danum Valley is best accessed via a short 40min flight to Lahad Datu (LDU), once there you are only a few hours drive from Scuba Junkie Sipadan!

Also known as Borneo’s lost world, Maliau Basin is an awe-inspiring & challenging place to visit. Trek through pristine rainforest, sleep in basic jungle camps, refresh yourself in hidden waterfalls and see a side of Sabah that most visitors won’t experience.
